Take Heart and Take Part
Help us build a better community. Centerville and the surrounding communities in Appanoose County are home to countless groups and nonprofit organizations that tirelessly work to serve others. How can you lend a hand?
It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!
Santa arrives at the Santa House located on the Historic Centerville Square the day after Thanksgiving during the Christmas lighting of the square. Visit Santa the day after Thanksgiving from 1-3 p.m. or every Saturday in December leading up to Christmas. Enjoy the Tour of Homes, our Holiday Sampler, carriage rides, live windows and more!
Volunteer opportunities include: decorating the square before Thanksgiving, helping with the Tour of Homes committee, taking photos in the Santa House, helping with the Live Windows, and taking the Christmas decorations down after the first of the year.
Please contact the Centerville Chamber at 641- 437-4102 if you would like to help us make the magic happen!
CHAMBER ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT

Each June, PACT holds an 18-hole golf tournament at the Appanoose Country Club, net proceeds going to fund the Silver Cord Volunteer Scholarship program at Centerville High School.

Centerville’s famous “Pancake Day” began in 1949 as a way to say “Thank You” to the people in the Centerville area for their patronage of Centerville businesses. It was originally held on a Thursday. In 1964, it was changed to the last Saturday in September where it has remained. Main attractions of the day include a Kiddie Parade, the Pancake Day Queen contest, entertainment throughout the day, and the Big Parade.
Annual Teacher’s Picnic
Each year before school starts, the chamber invites all teachers, school employees, and their families to attend a free picnic in appreciation for all they do! It’s a “Welcome Back to School” celebration including food and fun door prizes.
Please contact the chamber at 641-437-4102 if you would like to volunteer at the picnic or donate towards the door prizes. Volunteers typically work approximately 3 hours, which includes 30 minutes to set up, 2 hours to serve food, and 30 minutes to clean up.
